Back in September we posted a "Beauty Science" article called Fragrance. We started Beauty Science because we want to improve the beauty industry by making consumers more aware of what is in their products; which may be harmful, which are good and which have the potential to cause problems for those with sensitive skin or allergies. This video from Good Morning America (6-7-2019) brought these concerns to millions. If you missed it, take a look.
Of special note is the difference between the same product sold in Europe and in the US. Europe's version listed 33 ingredients, the US version 22. That's 11 more ingredients. Why? Because in Europe all ingredients must be listed. In the US, the term Fragrance is allowed as a cover all for those additional 11 ingredients!
The agency responsible for making regulating and making changes to labeling requirements is the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Maybe it's time for them to take a closer look. Those ingredients are missing from hair care, skin care and cosmetic labels.
