Get those feet summer ready!

It’s that time of year again; the warm evenings gaze upon us, the beach is calling our name and so are our feet for some major pampering! 

We all can’t afford to get pedi’s at the salon every couple of weeks, (though we would all love that!), so here we will share some steps and tips to take care of your feet to make sure they're always summer ready.

Step 1. Soak your feet in warm water with a foot soak. There are many good pedicure foot soaks available that both relax, rejuvenate and soften your feet.  In doing this, you also help to diminish foot odor, heal any fungus or ingrown toenails while soothing dry skin. It also preps your feet by softening the cuticles for the next step!

Step 2.  Dry your feet with a towel and use a cuticle pusher to push back the cuticles toward your nail bed. Then take the cuticle nipper and clip away the excess skin and cuticle around your toes. Tip: If you are dealing with an ingrown toenail, try taking an ingrown toenail file to lift the ingrown part out to keep it from growing deeper. Place a small piece of rolled up cotton between the nail and skin to make sure it grows out correctly.

Step 3. Cut your toenails the right way. Many of us probably didn’t know but there is a correct and wrong way to clip toenails. You always want to make sure you cut straight across and never curved. When you cut straight across, you are protecting your feet from ingrown toenails. Tip: If you aren’t digging the square shape, you can always slightly file the corners of the edges to get a more rounded, subtle look.

Step 4. Scrub and exfoliate your feet with a foot scrub. This helps to stimulate circulation to condition the skin while scrubbing away dead skin cells and build up. Tip: Use a pumice stone or foot file to buff and smooth out unwanted calluses.

Step 5. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Keep your feet moisturized to avoid cracked and dry feet. Just rub on a hydrating lotion after you hop out the shower to keep those feet hydrated and happy!
