Wedding Season is here! Hair Do's and Don'ts

Are you planning a summer wedding?  Going to be a June bride?  Below we've listed some important do's and don'ts to insure your hair is picture perfect on your big day.

  1. Always DO a trial appointment.  It doesn't matter if you've had the same stylist for years or are trying out someone recommended to you.  The perfect style you've found in a magazine may not flatter you.  Your stylist needs to work with you to make sure it lives up to expectations on your wedding day.
  2. DO be honest with your stylist.  He/she wants it to be as perfect as you do, so speak up.  Make sure you are 100% satisfied.
  3. DON'T attempt a style that is just "not you".  You want a style that lets you shine and be the best possible you on your day.
  4. DO get the dress first.  The dress will help you determine whether to wear your hair up or down and lets you determine a style the enhances the style of the dress design and the overall effect.
  5. DO bring your veil or hair accessory with you to your trial appointment and your final day.  Let your stylist add it while they are doing the hair.
  6. DON'T do drastic.  Really!  This is not the time to make startling chances in hair length, style or color.  Instead work with your stylist to get your hair in the best shape, full of body and shine.
  7. DO your dress fitting the same day as your hair trial appointment.  If you schedule your style first and then your fitting, you will get to see the total effect.
  8. DO deep condition your hair with a hair masque or have your stylist do it about a week before your wedding.
  9. DO bring photos with you.  Letting your stylist see what you have in mind is much easier and clearer than trying to explain it in words only.
  10. DON'T overthink it.  Sometimes more is less.  A basic, sophisticated style or a glammed-up version of your daily style may be more effective.  Remember, it may be a long day and night, so be sure the style is comfortable for you.
