Ally Answers...Skin Care

My pores are too big.  At least they look that way to me.  Is there anything I can do?  Gina B., El Paso, TX

Ally:  Pores enlarge when they are full of sludge...a clump of dead skin cells and excess oil that's difficult to squeeze out (and you shouldn't squeeze anyway).  Chemical exfoliants can dissolve the gunk.  Salicylic acid gets rid of excess oil.  Alpha hydroxyl acids, like glycolic acid, sloughs away dead skin cells. BioElement's Kerafole is a deep pore purging facial mask might be a good place to start.  This is a facial mask that takes about 10 minutes.  After that, do a good nightly skin cleansing and dab on a night cream that has these ingredients. If you keep up a daily regimen you should see results in a few days.

What is a probiotic and why is it good for my face?  Linda C., Sun Valley, CA

Ally:  Probiotics are good bacteria that help to balance skin just like they balance digestion on the inside.  After spending your teen years murdering every microorganism on your skin with zit cream, when you finally outgrow that problem, you need to be sure your skin stays in balance.  Pierre F has a ProBiotic Daily Moisturizer that I love.  It is oil free, lightweight and has an SPF 35...so important during the day.
